Set on two floors in a twelfth century as a fortified farm, this vacation home rental was once intended as a Lombard fortress to guard the fertile Arno Valley around Florence. Today it is the perfect holiday home rental for up to 5 persons with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
The owner has captured a genuine Tuscan charm, with the authentic terracotta floors, wood beam ceilings and stone fireplaces. The vacation rental is furnished with many modern comforts, and promises attentive service for all of your holiday needs. Only a short distance from the city center of Florence, this little Tuscan hamlet is well served by public transport and close to major highways for easy day trips to the many local sites.
An Invitation to Tuscany
When the new owners took over Villa Lysis, they began a slow but careful restoration bringing to light many of the original Tuscan architectural accents that make this accommodation so special: frescoes, wooden beamed ceilings, stone walls, brick vault, and cotto floors. Add the use of soft colors, antique furnishings and many little decorative highlights that make this not just a vacation rental, but a home away from home. They even found a secret vault and unearthed several antiques that now grace the interior of the holiday rental. The villa comes with WiFi access for your iPad and cell phone, and upon request the owner can assist you with a cell phone and a local number.
The entrance to Villa Lysis opens to a cosy living room with fireplace, comfortable sofas and direct access to the private garden area. You will find a SAT TV and radio for your entertainment. There is a bedroom on the ground floor with a lovely large single sleigh bed, romantic and inviting. The medieval cellar boasts stone walls, a curved vaulted ceiling and has been transformed into an area to enjoy the local wines in a suggestive setting. The dining room has a table for six with a fireplace and garden view. The eat-in kitchen makes excellent use of the architectural structure and is furnished with a stove and oven, microwave, American coffee maker, refrigerator and a complete collection of utensils and accessories for preparing your favorite Italian meal.
Authentic Comfort for the Holidays
Up stairs you will find two double bedrooms, a whimsical decor and an inviting setting. The larger of the two bedrooms commands a view of the Tuscan hills and Florence in the distance. Both bedrooms are provided with air conditioning for your comfort. There is a king size wrought iron, 4 poster bed, tapestries and a view of the wood beam ceiling. The frescoed ceiling in the second bedroom adds to its romantic floral motif. It comes with a double bed which can be converted into two time beds upon request. These two rooms share a large bathroom with a tub.
The private garden area provides the perfect area to relax and socialize with its abundance of chairs, tables and fresh blooming flowers. There is a jacuzzi tub (bubbles only, not heated) that will refresh and delight. Grab a glass of bubbly and make your way out to the patio garden to immerse yourself in the tranquility of Villa Lysis. Surrounded by a typical Tuscan landscape of olive groves, vineyards, the Arno Valley and Florence on the horizon, you can enjoy a stroll around the small little town looking for that perfect photo opportunity. There is even a 18th Century baroque monastery nearby and visible from the garden.
