Montelupo Fiorentino is a nice city located between Florence and Empoli. It’s mainly renowned for being situated in a marvellous natural context close to Florence (on the road connecting Florence to Pisa and Livorno) and in particular for the production of pottery and artistic glass. Since the Renaissance, Montelupo has been one of the most important centers of ceramic production in Italy and in Europe; today, all those interested in learning more on this topic may visit the Museum of Ceramics in Montelupo.
The town offers another artistic and architectural treasure that deserve to be pointed out: the Medici villa named Amborgiana, situated nearby the center on the left side of the Arno river, a majestic building overlooking the whole surroundings and home to many artistic works of the Medici family. Nowadays the villa may be partially visited upon request only.
