The farmhouse Casa Grimaldi is on the outskirts of Montaione and occupies a small hamlet which was once a barn, small shops, a blacksmith and farmhouses, all now carefully remodeled into apartments for a minimum of 2 persons plus a small child up to 5 adults. The unique country setting is in an area with a few private homes where it has created its own special little world, and neighbors become friends.

Enjoy a rustic country decor in an authentic Tuscan farmhouse with many modern comforts including a private pool and garden close to many of the major sites of the area including Florence, Pisa, Siena and the sandy beaches of Tuscany.

Authentic Tuscan Comfort

The 4 apartments have been after the meticulous restructuring of an ancient country farmhouse, some documents indicted that it may be from the 1500’s. The work was done on the house using local material such as the original stones, leaving untouched the typical defects which not only give the farmhouse its appeal but have worked out in a way to guarantee your comfort today.

All of the apartments are different one from the other, since the owner opted for a “restoration” and not a remodeling into a modern building. In the owner’s opinion this has added to its charm and gives it a sense of authenticity. Each apartment has a 1000 stories to tell, after dedicating time to researching the history of the building and the location, the owner has a collection of documents, books, antique photos and stories passed down from generation to generation, that will entertain you with its intricacies and memories.

The Apartments

The largest of the apartments is Tiglio (4+1 PAX), organized on two floors and within about 85 square meters. It has two double bedrooms, two full bathrooms with a shower, a large eat-in kitchen that offers direct access to the outdoor patio.

Magnolia (4 +1 PAX), averaging about 85 square meters, has two double bedrooms and the possibility of a third bed upon request. This apartment includes a modern and large bathroom with tub and a shower. There is an eat-in kitchen with a fireplace and direct access to a lovely area for outdoor meals.

Girasole, which means Sunflower in English, is a luminous two bedroom apartment of about 70 square meters for 4 persons. It comes with a well furnished kitchen that opens to the patio area for outdoor dining. It also includes a special storage area - giving you lots of room in the vacation rental.

The smallest of the four apartments, Granaio, is suitable for a couple or even a couple with a small child. There is a private enclosed patio area with a terracotta pavement and a fully furnished kitchen including dishwasher. Especially unique is the bathroom with shower and stone walls.

All apartments come with clean linens for the bed, bathroom and kitchen with a weekly change.

On the other side of the self catering apartments we have a large garden and private pool. Families and guests enjoy the refreshing water, the views and many times they can get to know their neighbors and create lasting relationships...some still return together to spend their holiday vacations at Casa Grimaldi not only for the fond memories and new friends but also due to the warm and generous welcome and assistance they receive from the owner Simone.

Visit the Marvels of Tuscany

This hidden corner of Tuscany offers some wonderful opportunities to indulge in local restaurants, shopping boutiques and amazing landscapes. Montaione has numerous trails for hiking, and it is close to the via Francigena where you can follow the footsteps of thousands of pilgrims from years gone by - practically with the same scenery, castles, and hilltop towns. Certaldo is one of these hilltop towns where time appears to have stood still for centuries in with its city walls and brick palaces. Volterra, your last stop before the Tuscan beaches, is an incredible journey into the past (and the site for many international films!) Be enchanted by the tower town of San Gimignano and its fabulous skyline.

The self catering apartments of Casa Grimaldi are just the right distance from the major museums and sites that is on everyone’s Tuscany “must see” list. Book your tickets to climb to the top of the Leaning Tower and explore the Piazza dei Miracoli in Pisa. Go shopping in the open air markets of San Lorenzo in Florence and gaze upon the perfection of Davide in white marble at the Accademia museum. Drive to Siena - another marvelous skyline awaits.
